Mr. Michael K. Patterson was born and raised in Delaware. He was commissioned a second lieutenant and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of Delaware in 1976. He served on active duty as an Ordnance Officer in the 2nd Armored Division at Fort Hood, TX under Major General George Patton,” General Patton’s son”. Next after active duty served in the New Jersey Army National Guard and Reserves. After a break in military service instead of returning to the rank as Captain became a Warrant Officer One in the Armor Cav Squadron of the New Jersey Army National Guard. Later transferred to the Delaware Army National Guard and promoted up the ranks to Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Field Grade). While in the Delaware Army National Guard served in various positions including Detachment Commander. Mr. Patterson retired in 2016 from the Army and currently resides in Wilmington, Delaware. Mr. Patterson’s military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, Company Commanders Course, Basic Ordnance Warrant Officer Course, Advance Ordnance Warrant Officer Course, Warrant Officer Staff Course, JAG Warrant Officer Pre-qualification Correspondence Course and Logistics Courses. Mr. Patterson earned his M.B.A. Master of Business Administration from Wilmington University in 1985 and his post-graduate from Delaware National Guard Leadership Academy, receiving additional 6 Graduate level Courses in Military Leadership at Wilmington University. Mr. Patterson retired August 2018 as Hospital Senior Staff Department Head/Director Facilities Delaware County Memorial Hospital located in Drexel Hill, PA. Mr. Patterson previously served as an Army civilian contractor for the Loyola University of Maryland Greyhound Battalion and had assisted in Military Science ROTC Operations and Instruction from April 2019 to June 2020. Beginning June 2020 Mr. Patterson is a Senior Military Science Instructor (Contractor) with the University of Delaware ROTC Blue Hen Battalion.
